Sir Garfield Sobers…Garry Sobers in his playing days was undoubtedly the greatest cricket player of his era (1952 – 1974) and is arguably amongst the greatest players of all time. He was a hugely talented all round player who captained The West Indies and he still holds the world record of six ‘sixes’ in an over!
After his retirement in 1975, he was knighted by the Queen in recognition of his outstanding contribution to international cricket and declared a National Hero in Barbados.
